Drainage Map Guide
Drainage is the sixth map in EMPULSE Early Access, added in Patch 1.0 (June 26, 2026) alongside the Mech Bounty mode and Requiem sniper rifle. Set in a Freehold stormwater and utility district, Drainage combines tight underground channels with elevated maintenance walkways — a layout that rewards grapple chains and punishes players who ignore vertical flanks.
Map Overview
Drainage sits between Harbor’s industrial waterfront and Refinery’s pipe networks in theme, but plays differently. Open culvert sections create long sightlines for Requiem and Triad users, while enclosed drainage tunnels favor Echo and Coda flanks. Wall-run routes along maintenance catwalks connect the upper layer to ground-level contest zones.

Key Callouts
Learn these callouts for team communication:
- Main culvert — central long-range lane and primary mech contest area
- Pump station — elevated hold position with grapple escape routes
- Overflow tunnel — flank route for SMG and shotgun users
- Catwalk network — upper-layer rotation paths for Intel holders
- Grate alley — narrow choke where Sticky P.A.I.N.T. slows pushes
Mode Strategies
Team Deathmatch
Use Drainage to practice long-range positioning on culvert sightlines while learning tunnel flanks. Control the catwalk network before engaging center — enemies who ignore upper routes lose map awareness quickly.
Intel
Intel holders on Drainage should rotate through the catwalk network rather than holding ground-level tunnels. Set Heal P.A.I.N.T. at pump station or catwalk junctions. Sticky P.A.I.N.T. on overflow tunnel entrances slows enemy trackers.
Control
Anchor pump station or catwalk positions with Oscillator or Compressor. Coordinate mech timing — culvert openness makes a controlled mech extremely dangerous during attack rounds.
Upload
Establish Speed P.A.I.N.T. corridors along catwalk routes early. Ball carriers should avoid the main culvert center and use overflow tunnel flanks with team escort.
Mech Bounty
Drainage is one of the best maps for Mech Bounty. The main culvert creates clear sightlines for anti-mech focus fire, while catwalk elevation lets your mech pilot reposition with thruster jumps. Coordinate: one player pilots, three focus enemy mech when it crosses open culvert sections.
Mech Notes
Two mechs spawn per wave at fixed locations near the main culvert. Open sightlines make mech chaingun devastating — infantry should use tunnel cover and coordinate anti-mech focus fire. A grappling melee player can drop the mech shield for teammates to pile damage during Mech Bounty rounds.
